100 Things You Should Know About People Has Reached 100!

I started the series “100 Things You Should Know About People” on October 25, 2009. It took me almost 1.5 years (!) but I’ve finally finished. I posted #100 on April 4, 2011. It’s been a lot of work, but a lot of fun, and I thank everyone for all the support and kind words over that time.

And there’s a book — Now I’m faced with figuring out what’s next for the blog. You’d think that I would have had this all figured out by now, but, in all honesty, getting to 100 was a big focus. And in case you haven’t noticed, along the way I took the blog theme and expanded it and wrote a new book, 100 Things Every Designer Needs To Know About People. The book was finished last week, and is at the printers as I write this. It can be pre-ordered on Amazon, (see the link in the sidebar) and will ship on April 25. Although very similar to the blog post series, it has lots more examples, research, and content, so if you liked the blog series I hope you will check out the book.

Help me figure out what’s next –– I do have some ideas for what to do with the blog moving forward, but I’d like to hear from my audience before I decide. If you would take a few minutes to fill out a short survey that would help me a lot. It’s anonymous and confidential.

Open forum Q&A in the mean time — While I’m waiting for you all to respond to the survey, I thought I’d do Q&A on all things psychology and/or usability, and/or anything I have expertise in. So if you have questions about what makes them click, or what makes us tick, send me a question via email (whatmakesthemclick@gmail.com) and I’ll answer it at the blog. In the meantime, fill out that survey and then stay tuned!

Hi Susan, the title of your new books sounds good. I presume that the ‘100 things’ are largely the ones on the site? I am looking for something to give to our designers to read, and make them mroe aware of people (as well as the fact that there is a huge difference between PRINT and DIGITAL design ;)

    Hi Nik,

The book is similar to the blog posts, but not exactly the same. And the book has more detail and more application to design. I wrote it with that exact idea in mind as you write: “I am looking for something to give to our designers to read and make them more aware of people”.

Susan, I’m really looking forward to reading your new book. I’ve pre-ordered it. I work with small online business owners and your content is always relevant.

    Hi Susan,

Congratulations on your milestone. I came late to the party, so I still haven’t read all 100. But I find myself looking forward to reading your posts when they pop up. I wish you success with the book and good luck with your next venture.

Congratulations on finishing this project and thank you for undertaking it! I read most of your posts and with pleasure.

Wouldn’t it be an idea that people could subscribe to the series and have one post a day or twice a week in their mailbox – all with their own starting date? Most newsletter programs could easily provide for that. I wouldn’t mind starting over for one :-).

Looking forward to reading the book and the blog.

Have you considered using Triberr to get word out on new posts?

Here’s my take on Triberr: http://stanfaryna.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/triberr-1-0-invite-only-crack-for-the-in-crowd/
